El Salvador Cerro De Ataco Single Origin Coffee
Finca Bella Vista is located at 1,300m above sea level in El Salvador’s Balsamo-Quezaltepec Mountain Range, one of Central America’s prime specialty coffee producing areas. Finca Bella Vista has been the hands of the Alfaro family for four generations. The estate coffee is grown in an area of 65 hectares. This farm is now owned by Moore y Cia S.A. de C.V. and is now run by Terence Moore Alfaro. One the slopes of the Bella Vista farm you will find Borbon, Catuai, Pacas and Pacamara intercropped amongst Ingas, Paraiso, Balsamo, Cedar and a variety of fruit trees. The use of intercropped trees helps to improve nutrient cycles, income diversity and importantly provides shade and climatic stability for the coffee. Under shade the soil will retain a greater moisture content which along with mulching is an important part of soil management. The coffee cherries will also be allowed to mature over a longer period producing a harder or denser bean.
